How do I recover deleted files from FAT32?
If you accidentally deleted data from a pen drive or a memory card that used the FAT32 file system to store the data,
then in order to recover the files you need to use a special data recovery software.
The result of recovery is highly dependent on how long you have been using the device after deletion.
The fact is that immediately after you delete a file, its contents actually still remains on the device.
The file is just marked as deleted. And only when you start copying new files to the device,
they can be written exactly to the place where the deleted file was stored.
That is, the less you use the device after the deletion, the greater your chances of recovering the deleted data.
Also, the FAT file system is very susceptible to fragmentation. That is, write parts of the file to the different areas of the volume.
The more data the device is filled with, the more fragmented files are stored on it.
During the deletion of a file, information about the location of parts of the files may be lost.
In this case, such files will not be recovered.
In any case, it is impossible to predict the result in advance, you need to try data recovery software to recover data from FAT.
We will give the procedure that needs to be done using the ReclaiMe software as an example:
- Connect the device to your computer.
- Download, install and run ReclaiMe File Recovery
- Select a device from the list of available devices and click Start.
- Wait for 3-5% of the scan and start checking the result of recovering deleted files.
- If the deleted data is displayed correctly in the Preview , buy a Standard license key
and copy the files to another device.
